First trailer for The Danish Girl: Extraordinary

“I believe I am a woman” 

Last week we saw the first image of Eddie Redmayne as Lili Elba in The Danish Girl. Today we are getting our first look at the extraordinary trailer and it’s clear this is no ordinary film. Redmayne and costar Alicia Vikander under Tom Hooper’s direction are telling a transformative tale and telling it with enormous understanding, depth and sensitivity. Ben Whishaw, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Amber Heard also star. Lucinda Coxon wrote the screenplay adaptation of David Ebershoff’s novel based on the true story about the first person to undergo transgender surgery. It’s a painful and heartbreaking process.

The Danish Girl premieres at the Venice Film Festival this Saturday, and at the Toronto International Film Festival September 12th before opening in theaters here in the states on November 27th. January 1st for the UK. Click here for additional release dates.
